A tragic incident unfolded in Greater Noida when a family of five allegedly consumed poison following a domestic dispute, resulting in the death of a couple and leaving their three young children hospitalised.
The incident occurred during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday in Sadullapur village, under the limits of the Ecotech-3 police station.
Couple declared dead at hospital
Police identified the deceased as Shravan and his wife Neelam, natives of Prayagraj district, who were currently residing in the Greater Noida area for work-related reasons.
According to police officials, the couple allegedly took the extreme step due to ongoing family-related issues. They were rushed to a nearby hospital after the incident came to light, where doctors declared them dead.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination after the completion of legal formalities.
Children poisoned, condition stable
The couple’s three children, aged 10, eight and four, were also affected after allegedly consuming the poisonous substance. Police said the children are undergoing treatment at a hospital, and their condition is reported to be stable.
Medical teams are closely monitoring the children, while child welfare authorities have been informed to ensure their care and protection once they recover.
Investigation underway
Police said statements are being recorded and further legal proceedings are underway to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the incident. Officials have not ruled out additional angles and said the investigation remains ongoing.
