Donkeys become police’s guest for eating away expensive plants!

New Delhi: In a bizarre incident, a herd of donkeys were detained by the police for about four days for committing a ‘crime’. In a state where police were once pressed into action to locate a minister’s missing buffalo, the herd of donkeys that relished expensive plants outside Ural jail in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh had no political clout. The ‘criminal’ donkeys were let loose only on Monday after a small time politician came forward to post the bail amount.

It is said that the owners of the donkeys were warned many times in the past to not let the animals wander. But, the masters of the donkeys paid little heed and last week a herd ate away plants, outside the Ural jail, that cost lakhs of rupees.

“These donkeys had destroyed some very expensive plants which our senior officer had arranged for planting inside the jail and despite warnings, the owner let loose his animals here. So we detained the donkeys,” head constable RK Mishra told ANI.

Jails are meant to reform the criminal, but whether or not these criminals have learnt their lesson, only time will say!
