In a shocking breach of examination integrity, parents and relatives were caught on drone camera passing chits to students during a Class 12 board examination at a junior college in Chousala, Maharashtra’s Beed district.
The incident occurred during the English paper on Tuesday. Officials from the Education Department had deployed a drone for routine surveillance to curb malpractice. The footage, which spans nearly three hours, shows individuals standing outside classroom windows and attempting to pass written notes to students inside. Some were seen dispersing quickly upon noticing the drone overhead.
Drone surveillance reveals exam malpractice
Authorities stated that the college premises were surrounded by open land, making it easier for outsiders to access classroom windows. The visuals have raised serious concerns over examination security and parental involvement in academic misconduct.
Beed District Magistrate Vivek Johnson confirmed that an investigation has been initiated. “We are reviewing the footage thoroughly. Strict action will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future,” he said.
A worrying pattern in board exams
This is not the first such case in the country. In 2015, similar visuals from Bihar went viral, showing family members scaling school walls to assist students during board examinations. The incident had led to widespread outrage and the disqualification of nearly 500 students.
Education experts believe such acts not only undermine merit but also place immense pressure on students to succeed at any cost. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring fair and transparent examinations.
The current investigation will determine accountability and possible disciplinary action against those involved.
