More than 20 days after a case under the POCSO Act was filed against Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, for allegedly featuring inappropriate scenes with minor girls in web series, the MHB police have yet to take further action.
The case stems from a complaint filed by a 30-year-old yoga instructor from Borivali, Mumbai, in 2021. The FIR claims that minors were used in obscene scenes in the web series Class of 2017, Class of 2020, and Gandi Baat, which aired on the Alt Balaji platform. Following a court order, the police registered the case under sections of the POCSO Act, along with other relevant sections of the IPC, IT Act, and Women Prohibition Act.
Despite the FIR being filed, the police have stated that they will proceed with further legal action after the election season. Alt Balaji Telefilms, which is linked to Ekta and Shobha Kapoor, has denied any wrongdoing, claiming that they complied with all applicable laws during production.
