Bhadohi (UP): A case has been registered against ten employees of a carpet manufacturing company in Bhadohi district, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly assaulting a Russian businesswoman, police officials reported on Wednesday.

Superintendent of Police Meenakshi Katyayan stated that Anna Steor, a 30-year-old resident of Moscow, had sold an industrial device to Ahsan Ansari, the owner of the carpet manufacturing firm.

When Mr. Ansari expressed dissatisfaction with the device, Steor requested him to return it to her agent in India, the police officer explained.

In her complaint to the police, Steor claimed that Ansari retained the device, prompting her to travel to India. Upon her arrival at the company on Tuesday, she was allegedly attacked by ten employees of the firm, the SP noted.

During the assault, Steor sustained a fractured finger on her hand, the police officer said.

Steor submitted a video of the alleged incident along with her complaint, leading to the registration of a case against ten unnamed employees of the carpet manufacturing company, the SP confirmed.

The police have registered the case under sections 147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 352 (assault by provocation) of the Indian Penal Code at Bhadohi Kotwali Police Station on Tuesday.

Steor has since returned to Russia, and the investigation is ongoing, the SP added.
