A disturbing video circulating widely on social media, claiming that a nine-year-old girl in Haryana’s Kaithal district has given birth to a child, has been found to be completely false and misleading, police officials have clarified.
Sensational claims spark panic online
The viral clip shows a hospital-like setting where a young girl is seen holding a newborn baby. Accompanying posts falsely claim that the child is nine years old and that her 12-year-old brother is the father. The video further alleges that Geeta, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kaithal City Police Station, is narrating details of the incident.
These claims triggered widespread outrage and anxiety on social media platforms.
Truth behind the viral video
Police investigation has confirmed that the video has no connection whatsoever to any such incident in Kaithal. Officials said the footage dates back to March 5, 2025, and was recorded during a law student seminar at a private university in Kaithal.
At the event, Geeta was speaking about her professional experiences and legal awareness as part of an educational session. The video has been deliberately misrepresented and falsely linked to an alleged crime.
Police issue strong clarification
The Kaithal Police took immediate cognisance of the viral content. Lalit Yadav, Deputy Superintendent of Police, released a video statement categorically denying the claims.
“No such incident has occurred in Kaithal district. The viral video is completely fake, baseless, and misleading,” the DSP said. He added that police will initiate legal action against individuals or pages found spreading rumours or creating panic through false information.
Call for responsible sharing
Police and legal experts have urged the public to verify information before sharing sensitive content, especially videos involving children, law enforcement officers, or serious criminal allegations.
Authorities warned that spreading fake news not only harms individuals’ reputations but also invites strict legal consequences under cyber and criminal laws.
