Ludhiana: A factory owner’s vehicle was set ablaze in a suspected petrol bomb attack carried out by three masked men in Ludhiana, triggering a police investigation. The incident, which occurred late at night, was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, providing investigators with crucial evidence to identify the suspects.
The attackers allegedly arrived in an i20 car, surveyed the area and deliberately targeted the parked vehicle before fleeing the scene.
CCTV captures entire attack
According to CCTV footage, the three masked men arrived in the locality in a car during the late hours of the night.
The footage reportedly shows the suspects first checking the surroundings to ensure there were no witnesses nearby. Shortly afterwards, one of the men stepped out carrying a bottle containing an inflammable substance.
The individual then approached the parked vehicle, poured the liquid over it and ignited it. Within moments, a powerful blaze engulfed the vehicle.
The suspects immediately fled the area after carrying out the attack.
Vehicle destroyed in fire
The targeted vehicle, a black Mahindra KUV100, belonged to local factory owner Muhammad Shaki.
The fire spread rapidly, and the vehicle was reportedly gutted within minutes. Residents alerted authorities after noticing the flames, prompting emergency personnel and police officers to rush to the scene.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, as the vehicle was parked in an open plot adjacent to the owner’s residence.
Owner files police complaint
Following the incident, Muhammad Shaki lodged a formal complaint with the police.
In his statement, he said the vehicle had been parked in an empty plot near his house when three unidentified individuals arrived in an i20 car around midnight and deliberately set it on fire using an inflammable substance.
Police recorded the complaint and launched an investigation into the attack.
Police begin hunt for suspects
The Ludhiana Police have registered a case and initiated efforts to trace the accused.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage and other digital evidence to identify the vehicle used in the crime and establish the identities of the attackers.
Officials are also analysing possible motives behind the attack, including any personal, business or financial disputes that may have led to the incident.

Police officials said multiple teams have been deployed to track down the suspects and gather further evidence.
