A routine medical visit turned tragic in Navi Mumbai after a 21-year-old woman died allegedly due to injections administered by a ward boy who posed as a doctor. Police have arrested the accused and launched a detailed investigation into the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Prachiti Bhikuram Bhuvad, a resident of Sector 11, Vashi. The incident occurred on February 5 at her residence in Giridhar Nivas.

Ward boy posed as doctor, police say

According to the police, the accused, Sandesh Yashwant Pashte (30), works as a ward boy at a private nursing home in Andheri. He allegedly visited Prachiti’s home and falsely claimed to be a doctor.

Without consulting any qualified medical practitioner, Pashte reportedly administered Emeset and Dynapar injections intravenously. Soon after the injections were given, Prachiti’s condition deteriorated rapidly. She was rushed for medical help but could not be saved.

Known to family, trusted earlier

Investigators said the accused was known to the victim’s family, as he had previously provided medical assistance to them. Prachiti was reportedly suffering from Polycystic Ovary Disease (PCOD) and had complained of discomfort, following which the injections were administered.

Police believe the injections triggered a fatal reaction. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem and medical reports are reviewed.

Case registered, accused arrested

Following a complaint filed by the victim’s father, Bhikuram Govind Bhuvad, the Vashi Police registered a case on February 6 under Sections 105 and 319(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused was arrested on the same day.

Police officials have urged citizens to seek treatment only from qualified medical professionals and warned against allowing unverified individuals to administer medicines or injections.
