Families of Indian students studying in Iran have expressed growing concern over their safety as the West Asia conflict intensifies, urging the government to ensure their safe return.

Relatives of Aakil Ali, a student who has been studying in Iran for the past five years, appealed to the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to arrange for the evacuation of Indian nationals from the region.

Family appeals for safe return

Speaking about the situation, Aakil Ali’s brother said the student has not returned home for nearly a year and the ongoing conflict has heightened fears among family members.

“He has been studying in Iran for the last five years and has not returned home for a year. Given the current situation between Iran, Israel and America, I appeal to the Indian government to bring him home as soon as possible,” he said.

He also requested the Prime Minister to ensure that all Indian citizens currently in Iran are brought back safely.

Students moved to safer areas

As tensions in West Asia continue to escalate, several areas in Iran have witnessed strikes targeting key locations, raising concerns about a broader regional conflict.

The All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) confirmed that Indian students have been relocated from Tehran to the city of Qom as a precautionary measure.

According to the association, all students are currently safe.

Embassy monitoring the situation

AIMSA said the Indian Embassy in Tehran has issued advisories asking students to move to designated safe zones.

The association also urged families not to panic while authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.

“We request parents and well-wishers to remain calm and united. Continuous communication is being maintained with the concerned authorities to ensure the safety of every Indian student,” AIMSA said in a statement.

Evacuation challenges

Officials said Iranian airspace remains closed, making immediate air evacuation difficult.

However, the government is reportedly monitoring the situation and exploring options to ensure the safety of Indian nationals in the region.

Thousands of Indian students, particularly those pursuing medical and professional courses, are currently enrolled in universities across Iran.

With the conflict showing signs of escalation, families continue to urge authorities to prioritise their safe return to India.
