Several parts of the erstwhile Adilabad district witnessed intense heat wave conditions on Friday, with soaring temperatures crossing 44 degrees Celsius.
The extreme weather also claimed the life of a farm labourer, officials said.
Temperatures cross 44°C
According to weather data, Kommera recorded the highest temperature at 44.3°C.
Dasturabad also touched 44.3°C, while Asifabad registered 44.2°C.
Adilabad Urban recorded 43.3°C.
Residents largely remained indoors between 11 am and 4 pm to escape the scorching conditions.
Labourer dies of sunstroke
The deceased was identified as Tekam Gajanan.
He reportedly collapsed while making arrangements for a wedding at Arli (T) village.
He was rushed to RIMS-Adilabad, where doctors declared him brought dead.
He is survived by his wife and two sons.
Daily life disrupted
Roads wore a deserted look in many areas as people turned to fruit juices, watermelons and ice apples to stay hydrated.
Students were seen carrying umbrellas, while outdoor work and industrial activity reportedly slowed due to the heat.
