A 58-year-old farmer from Dabhoda village in Gandhinagar district died in a road accident on Thursday evening after he reportedly lost control of his motorcycle while trying to avoid hitting a dog that suddenly ran onto the road, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Bhala Solanki. His younger brother, a 52-year-old farmer, has filed a complaint with the police detailing the circumstances leading to the accident.

Accident near Prabhupura

According to the complaint, Bhala Solanki was returning home from the fields on his Bullet motorcycle when the incident occurred near the Prabhupura stretch. As the motorcycle approached the area, a dog unexpectedly came onto the road.

“In an attempt to save the animal, my brother lost control of the motorcycle, which slipped and threw him onto the road,” the complainant stated.

The fall reportedly caused Solanki to hit the back of his head on the road surface.

Rushed to hospital, declared dead

Family members were informed immediately and rushed Solanki to Civil Hospital Gandhinagar for treatment. However, doctors examined him on arrival and declared him dead.

Medical officials said Solanki had sustained a severe head injury, with bleeding reported from the nose and ears, indicating the seriousness of the impact.

Police register case

Police said a case of accidental death has been registered based on the complaint, and further procedures are underway. No other vehicle was involved in the incident, officials added.

Call for caution on rural roads

The incident has once again highlighted the risks faced by motorists on rural and semi-rural roads, where sudden movement of animals is common, especially during evening hours. Police have advised riders to maintain moderate speed and remain alert while travelling through village stretches.

Bhala Solanki is survived by his family members, who have been left grieving by the sudden and tragic loss.
