Father’s Day turns grim: Elderly man arrested for killing son over neglect in Trichy
In a deeply unsettling incident reported on World Father’s Day, a 78-year-old man is alleged to have fatally attacked his 55-year-old son in Manapparai, Trichy, reportedly over neglect and poor treatment.
The accused, K. Kandasamy, a farmer from A. Kalingapatti village, had recently handed over his property to his children and was residing with his elder son, Annadurai. According to local sources, Kandasamy was distressed over being inadequately cared for and not given proper meals.
On Saturday night, while Annadurai was asleep, Kandasamy reportedly attacked him with a sharp weapon. The violent act was discovered the following morning when concerned neighbours found Annadurai in a pool of blood and immediately informed the police.
Authorities shifted the body to Manapparai Government Hospital for a postmortem examination. Kandasamy was taken into custody and has since been remanded to judicial custody pending further investigation.
