Sangareddy: Five farm labourers from Karnataka’s Bidar district were killed and seven others injured after a tanker rammed into an autorickshaw in Telangana’s Sangareddy district on Tuesday.
The accident occurred at New Satwar in Zahirabad mandal, where the labourers were travelling for work. Many workers from neighbouring Karnataka regularly travel to Zahirabad and surrounding areas for agricultural employment.
The injured were shifted to the Area Hospital in Zahirabad, where they are receiving treatment.
Chief Minister expresses condolences
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed shock and grief over the accident and conveyed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
He directed officials to ensure that all injured persons receive the best possible medical treatment and appropriate care.
The incident has caused grief in Bidar, where the victims were from, as families await further information about the accident and arrangements for the deceased.
Another fatal accident reported
Another road accident in Sangareddy district claimed two lives on the same day. Police said a car lost control on National Highway 65 near Venkatapur crossroads in Kohir mandal, hit a divider and then crashed into vehicles travelling on the opposite side.
Four vehicles were damaged, resulting in traffic disruption. Police reached the spot and cleared the damaged vehicles before restoring traffic movement.
Railway tragedy claims mother and son
In a separate incident in Hyderabad, a 23-year-old woman and her two-year-old son were killed after being struck by a train near the Badvel-Shivrampalli railway stations.
According to railway police, the woman, identified as Anusha, was working near the railway track when her son wandered onto the tracks. She reportedly rushed to bring him back but was unable to see the approaching Karnataka Sampark Kranti Express because of a bend.
Both were struck by the train travelling towards Bengaluru’s Yeshwantpur from Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi.
