A five-year-old girl was abducted from outside her home and later found dead in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district on Friday evening, police said. Two men in their late 20s have been arrested in connection with the case.
Child taken from residential area
According to police, the child was outside her house when the accused, both factory labourers residing in the same locality, allegedly took her away. Senior officers said the two men were together at the time and had been consuming alcohol earlier in the evening.
Investigators said the accused later admitted during questioning that the crime was planned impulsively.
Attempt to present incident as accidental
Police said the accused allegedly tried to mislead the family and investigators by throwing the child from the third floor of their rented building to make it appear as an accident.
Their attempt failed after a friend of the child’s father reportedly saw her with the accused shortly before the incident. Suspicion deepened when the child’s mother later found her daughter’s slippers inside the room occupied by the two men. When she confronted them, the suspects fled.
Arrest after police operation
After receiving the complaint, police launched a search operation. The accused were arrested later the same night following a brief encounter, officials said.
Senior Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar Singh said the post-mortem examination confirmed that the child had suffered a serious offence and that the cause of death was strangulation, along with multiple injuries.
Community in shock
The incident has left the local community deeply shaken, with residents expressing grief and anger. Police said a detailed investigation is underway and that the accused will be charged under stringent legal provisions.
Authorities have assured the family of full legal support and said efforts will be made to ensure swift justice.
