A touching video showing an emotional reunion between a man and a stray dog after five years has gone viral on social media, moving thousands of viewers and once again highlighting the unconditional love of dogs.

The clip was shared on Instagram by Chirag HV Havelia, and features his reunion with an indie dog named Lily. Titled “POV: People might forget you, but dogs won’t”, the video has resonated strongly with animal lovers.

Moment of recognition captured on camera

In the video, Havelia is seen crossing the road and calling out to Lily. For a brief moment, the dog appears unsure. Seconds later, she recognises him, begins wagging her tail and rushes forward, showering him with affection.

The heartfelt reaction has been widely shared, with viewers calling it a reminder of dogs’ loyalty and emotional memory.

Bond that began years ago

Havelia later explained that Lily had been found as a days-old pup near his food truck several years ago. During that time, a close bond developed between them.

“When we had to shut down the food truck, I couldn’t take her with me. It broke my heart, but she became the queen of the road and was well cared for by the neighbourhood,” he said.

Due to health issues and work commitments, he was unable to visit her over the years and only received occasional updates through friends.

Internet reacts with emotion

The video has crossed over 4.4 lakh views, drawing hundreds of comments. Many users praised Lily’s memory and affection, calling her a “pure and loving soul”.

Some local residents also reassured viewers that the dog continues to be safe and looked after by people in the area.

A reminder of unconditional love

The reunion has sparked conversations about compassion towards stray animals and the emotional bonds they form with humans, often lasting a lifetime.
