A viral video showing five boys riding a single motorcycle on a busy national highway in Uttar Pradesh has once again raised serious concerns over reckless road behaviour and public safety.

The video, shot on National Highway 9 in Hapur, shows an overcrowded motorcycle with one boy dangerously dangling from the side, held by another rider. Another youth seated at the back is seen recording the stunt, apparently for social media. The clip is believed to have been filmed by someone following the motorcycle.

Police action after video goes viral

The footage quickly caught the attention of local authorities. Police from Pilkhuwa Kotwali registered a traffic violation case and imposed a fine of ₹31,000 on the riders for violating multiple safety norms.

Officials stated that riding with excess passengers, performing stunts and recording videos while travelling on highways pose grave risks not only to the riders but also to other commuters.

Authorities issue strong warning

Police have warned citizens against flouting traffic rules, stressing that national highways are not places for stunts or thrill-seeking behaviour. “Such acts can lead to fatal accidents within seconds,” an officer said, adding that strict enforcement will continue against violators.

Series of dangerous stunts in the region

This is not an isolated incident. In recent days, several risky acts have been reported from the Hapur stretch of the Delhi–Lucknow highway. One viral video showed a man hanging from an iron railway bridge above the highway, performing chin-ups as vehicles passed below.

In another clip from the Pilkhuwa area, a man was seen running alongside a moving train on railway tracks, performing push-ups and jumping dangerously close to the tracks.

Earlier, a man was also arrested near Baghpat after a video surfaced of him standing on the bonnet and roof of a moving SUV on NH-9, leaving the steering wheel unattended.

Rising concern over viral stunts

Police and road safety experts have expressed concern over the growing trend of performing dangerous stunts for online attention. They have urged parents and communities to counsel youngsters and report such incidents promptly.

Authorities reiterated that strict legal action, including hefty fines and arrests, will be taken against anyone endangering lives on public roads.
