Belgaum: Despite a reduction in rainfall, the flood situation in the district remains severe, with extensive areas of Mudalagi taluk still submerged. Although the water levels in the Krishna River and its tributaries are stable, 44 bridges remain underwater.

The Rajapur Barrage in Maharashtra is discharging 2.45 lakh cusecs of water, while the Kallola Barrage in Chikkodi taluk is receiving over 2.93 lakh cusecs, including 48,570 cusecs from the Dudhganga River. Additionally, 5,000 cusecs of water is flowing into the Malaprabha River from the Naviluthirtha Dam.

Villages in the Ghataprabha river basin, such as Mirji, Malali, and Ontagodi, are heavily inundated. In Mirji alone, 138 people have been evacuated. The Vijayapur-Belgaum State Highway-34 Chinchkhandi Samida Bridge is also submerged.

Care centers have been established in government primary schools, and shelter houses are offering refuge to those affected. However, some residents of Malali village have opted to remain in their homes rather than move to the care centers.

The water level at Sundholi’s Jadisiddheshwar Mutt has slightly decreased, but the abbot and his disciples are staying in an elevated room upstairs.
