In a recent crackdown, Telangana’s Food Safety Commissioner’s task force uncovered major hygiene and safety violations at several juice centres in Hyderabad’s Ameerpet area. The inspections, conducted on April 16, 2025, revealed that three juice stalls—Bombay Juice, Natural Flavours, and KGN Juice Centre—were operating without valid FSSAI licenses.
At Bombay Juice, officials flagged numerous issues: the absence of pest control and medical fitness certificates, a dirty and rusted refrigerator, open dustbins, unlabelled food, and food handlers seen chewing tobacco while preparing juices. The stall also failed to display its FSSAI license as required.
Natural Flavours, located near Tirumala Towers, was similarly found without a license. The team discovered cockroaches in the fridge, expired syrups, uncovered dustbins, and no labeling on soda bottles. The food handler lacked a proper apron and head cap.
KGN Juice Centre, opposite the Government General Hospital, had a filthy fridge, houseflies in the preparation area, and spoiled fruit salad. Open bins and unlabeled ingredients further added to safety concerns.
Another stall, A1 Fruit and Juice Shop in Vengal Rao Nagar, also lacked licenses and basic sanitary infrastructure—rusty knives, open drainage, and a rust-covered fridge.
Even Coconut Juice Bar—despite displaying its license—was cited for rotten fruits, cockroaches, and lack of essential records like pest control and water analysis.
Authorities have warned that any establishment operating without a license faces closure under the FSS Act, 2006, after due notice.
