Mumbai: A disturbing incident has come to light after a foreign travel vlogger alleged harassment while walking through a crowded public area in the city. The incident gained attention after she shared a video of the episode on social media.

The tourist has been identified as Ines Faria, a content creator from Portugal who is currently travelling across India. In a video posted on Instagram, Faria described the episode as the first time she had faced such behaviour during her two-month stay in the country.

Video shows men allegedly following her

In the video, Faria is seen walking through a crowded area, appearing visibly tense as two men allegedly follow her closely. She maintained a nervous smile while recording, later stating that she felt uncomfortable and unsafe.

In her post, she wrote, “This was the first time something like this happened to me in India and I’ve been here for 2 months now. Most of my experience has been beautiful, kind and welcoming.”

She further added, “They kept following us, asking for photos even after I said no multiple times. I didn’t feel comfortable, and they were super pushy. They followed us around for over 15 minutes and it started to feel really overwhelming.”

Emphasising the importance of consent and personal safety, she wrote, “Just a reminder that ‘no’ is a full sentence. And your safety and comfort always come first.”

Following the circulation of the video, Mumbai Police registered a formal complaint in connection with the incident. An FIR has been filed at Agripada Police Station against two unidentified individuals under Sections 78(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act.

Police officials said efforts are under way to identify the accused and further investigation is ongoing.

The incident has once again sparked discussions on tourist safety and the need for strict enforcement against harassment in public places.
