Mumbai: NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Friday said that a government must be formed in Maharashtra well before the Ayodhya verdict.
Speaking to CNN-News18, Pawar said that everyone knows what happened in Mumbai last time over Ayodhya.
“A new government must be in place to ensure a peaceful Maharashtra,” he said.
The BJP and Shiv Sena have locked horns over the seat sharing agreement. While the Sena has proposed 50:50 seat sharing and also demanded sharing the CM’s post on rotational basis, the BJP has sternly said that the same is not possible.
If the BJP has said that it will form the government with or without the Sena, the Sena too, on the other hand has warned the BJP of having ‘other options at hand’ and on Thursday Sena leader Sanjay Raut met Pawar fuelling rumours of the Sena looking out for a new alliance partner.
However, refuting the same, Pawar said that the people of Maharashtra have not given fractured mandate and since the BJP-Sena coalition has bagged absolute majority, it is the responsibility of the two parties to form the government.
Also, the NCP veteran denied rumours of his party supporting the BJP.
Meanwhile, Pawar, who called CM Devendra Fadnavis ‘arrogant’, also took a dig at Home Minister Amit Shah and wondered if Shah is a full-time Home Minister or a full-time BJP worker.
