A deeply disturbing case of child abuse has come to light in Haryana’s Faridabad, where a four-and-a-half-year-old girl was allegedly beaten to death by her father after she failed to write numbers from 1 to 50 correctly.
The accused, Krishna Jaiswal (31), was arrested on Friday following a complaint filed by his wife, Ranjita. The incident occurred on Wednesday at their rented house in Jhadsentli area of Faridabad, where the family had recently shifted from Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh.
Brutal assault at home
According to police, Jaiswal repeatedly struck his daughter Vanshika with a rolling pin and slammed her onto the floor in a fit of rage. The child sustained severe head injuries during the assault.
After the incident, Jaiswal allegedly attempted to conceal the crime by taking the child to a hospital and claiming she had fallen down the stairs while playing. He also repeated the same version to his wife and the doctors.
However, the couple’s seven-year-old son, who was at home at the time, later told his mother that his sister had been brutally beaten by their father.
Mother alerts police
Ranjita, who rushed to the hospital directly from her workplace, noticed visible injury marks on her daughter’s body. Vanshika was declared dead on arrival by doctors.
Following this, Ranjita approached the police, leading to Jaiswal’s arrest. A case of murder has been registered against him under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Sector 58 police station in Faridabad.
Probe under way
Police said both parents work at a private firm in alternating shifts. While the mother works during the day, Jaiswal works night shifts and stays home to look after the children. The girl was not enrolled in school and was being taught at home by her father.
The child’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and statements of family members and neighbours are being recorded to reconstruct the sequence of events. Further investigation is ongoing.
