Fuel scare forces British warplane to make emergency landing in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A British military aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport after running low on fuel during a training flight. The warplane had originally taken off from the HMS Prince of Wales, stationed roughly 100 nautical miles off the Kerala coast.

After completing the training sortie, the pilot attempted to land back on the aircraft carrier, but rough sea conditions made landing impossible. The warplane circled the area multiple times before fuel levels became critically low.

With urgency mounting, the Defence Ministry granted permission for the aircraft to land at the nearest civilian airport. The landing at Thiruvananthapuram was executed safely, and the aircraft is currently undergoing checks. It will be allowed to take off again once the Defence authorities complete all necessary clearances.
