Kamlesh Kamtekar, a skilled graphic designer from Mumbai, has opted for a drastic career change after his LinkedIn post about losing his job gained widespread attention. Although he received several offers, he chose to drive an autorickshaw for greater reliability and peace of mind.
With over 14 years of expertise and a prior income of ₹75,000 per month, Kamlesh endured layoffs twice, citing corporate downsizing and automation in design. He even pursued advanced training in 3D animation but found little improvement in job stability.
Frustrated by the challenges in his profession, Kamlesh decided to explore a different path. His love for driving inspired him to buy an autorickshaw, offering him control over his work life. He has been finalizing documents and plans to begin his journey soon, guided by auspicious timing.
Kamlesh lives with his retired father, homemaker wife, and mother. His father stopped working after the pandemic, adding to their financial constraints. By saving diligently, Kamlesh managed to purchase the autorickshaw despite his limited resources.
While his wife supported his bold choice, his parents initially struggled to accept the change but have since come to terms with it. Kamlesh views this shift as a step toward independence and stability, even as he reflects on the instability that led him here.
