A bomb attack was reported in Manipur on Sunday evening after unknown miscreants hurled a grenade at a residential house in Imphal West district, police said. While no injuries were reported, the blast caused damage to the property, triggering security concerns in the area.

The incident occurred at around 5.23 pm at Lillong Chajing Mamang Leikai, under the jurisdiction of Singjamei Police Station. The grenade was thrown at the house of Puyam Rajendro Singh, who is currently serving as an executive engineer with the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

CCTV captures attack

According to police, the entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed near the house. The footage reportedly shows the attackers arriving in a white Gypsy vehicle before hurling the grenade at the residence and fleeing the spot.

The explosion damaged the exterior portion of the house, shattering windowpanes. Visuals from the scene showed broken glass scattered across the ground, indicating the force of the blast.

Security agencies probe incident

Soon after the incident, teams from the Manipur Police, along with central security agencies and forensic experts, reached the location to conduct investigations and collect evidence. The area was cordoned off to facilitate examination of the blast site.

Police officials said that no group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. The motive behind the incident remains unclear, and authorities are analysing CCTV footage and other forensic inputs to identify those involved.

Investigation ongoing

Officials said further details would emerge as the investigation progresses. Security has been heightened in the locality as a precautionary measure, and residents have been urged to remain calm while cooperating with investigators.
