Ahmedabad: A major fire erupted at a hospital in Ahmedabad, leading to the evacuation of approximately 100 patients as a safety measure. The fire broke out in the basement of Rajasthan Hospitals in Ahmedabad’s Shahibaug and fire tenders promptly responded to the incident. Firefighting efforts are currently in progress, and fortunately, there have been no reported injuries so far.
Police inspector MD Champavat stated that firefighting teams are actively working to contain the blaze, and smoke continues to emanate from the hospital’s basement, where the fire originated. As a precautionary step, around 125 patients were safely evacuated from the multi-storey building.
According to a fire official quoted by PTI, the fire resulted from items stored in the basement catching fire due to the ongoing renovation work at the hospital. It’s important to note that the hospital operates under a charitable trust.
