A shocking video circulating on social media shows a man being tortured by a group of 5-6 men in the basement of a building in Gurugram. The victim, a JCB driver from Rajasthan, is seen hanging upside down from an iron pipe as he is brutally beaten with sticks. In the video, he can be heard begging for mercy.
The accused allegedly work as security guards at an under-construction housing site where the victim was employed. They reportedly suspected him of stealing electrical wires. The disturbing video was leaked by the contractor himself, who is believed to be closely connected to a Haryana minister. Initially, the victim’s complaint was ignored by police.
However, once the video went viral, public outrage forced the police to act. Gurugram Police issued a statement confirming that although no formal complaint had been filed, they had taken suo motu cognisance of the incident. A case was registered at Sector 10 Police Station, and four suspects were arrested from Basai Enclave.
The assault reportedly took place during the night of June 11–12, but action was delayed due to alleged political pressure. Social media users have claimed that the victim was threatened into silence and denied justice, as the contractor boasted ties with a central minister and claimed his wife was a High Court lawyer.
The police investigation is ongoing, and further arrests may follow.
