Gujarat: Hardik Patel, the ‘Patel quota’ stir leader has been detained by Gujarat police on Saturday in Surat. It has been reported that he was planning to hold an Ekta Yatra defying government orders.
Hardik and his 78 supporters were detained.
After his arrest, the Patidar convener said that both Gujarat government and the Police are trying to create unrest in the state.
The Gujarat government had, on Friday, denied permission to the Hardik Patel-led ‘Ekta Yatra’ scheduled for Saturday, even as the Patel quota agitation leader remained adamant to go ahead with the march “at any cost”.
In the past two weeks, Hardik had announced the taking out of the “reverse Dandi March” twice, but cancelled the plan after the district administration denied permission to them.
Hardik said they will follow the path of “civil disobedience”, but assured that the rally will be held peacefully without causing harm to anybody.
OBC vs. Patels:
Meanwhile, the OBCs have threatened to hold a counter protest if Patels launch the Ekta Yatra to which the district administration has denied permission.
