Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda highlighted the state government’s initiatives to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship among students, emphasizing the importance of startups. On the occasion of Startup Day, Dhanda spoke about the government’s efforts to empower the youth, enabling them to play a vital role in the nation’s growth.
The minister pointed out that self-employment and vocational education are crucial drivers of both state and national development. To support these objectives, the Education Department has rolled out several programs focusing on vocational education.
Since the 2012-13 academic year, Haryana has introduced vocational courses in 1,381 schools. Additionally, 2,750 schools across the state are equipped with specialized laboratories that offer training in 15 skills, such as automobile, healthcare, IT, and retail. As a result, approximately 2 to 2.5 lakh students are receiving vocational training alongside their regular education, preparing them for a diverse range of careers and entrepreneurial opportunities.
