In an unfortunate incident on Sunday morning, a businessman was fatally attacked while he was resting in his SUV at a parking lot near a Dhaba in Haryana. The assailants, whose identities remain unknown, dragged him out of the vehicle and shot him dead. This occurrence echoes a recent incident where an INLD leader was also targeted and killed by unidentified individuals while in his SUV in Jhajjar.
The incident took place at Gulshan Dhaba in Murthal, Haryana, around 8:30 am. The deceased has been identified as Sunder Malik, a 38-year-old liquor trader hailing from Saragthal village in Gohana.
According to CCTV footage, the victim, attired in an orange hoodie and trousers, attempted to defend himself as the attackers fired at him. Despite his efforts to resist, he was overpowered, and the assailants continued to shoot until he could no longer retaliate.
Upon witnessing the attack, the owner of the dhaba promptly informed the authorities. Police reported that approximately 35 rounds were fired during the assault. Currently, eight teams have been assembled to track down the perpetrators.
Gaurav Rajpurohit, a police officer, stated, “Upon receiving a phone call, the police arrived at the scene and discovered evidence of extensive firing, estimated to be around 30 to 35 rounds.”
The investigating officer assured that further steps will be taken following discussions with the victim’s family. At this point, authorities have refrained from confirming any gang-related motives behind the attack.
This incident bears similarities to the tragic demise of Nafe Singh Rathi, the Haryana unit president of the Indian National Lok Dal, who was also gunned down by unidentified assailants while in his SUV in Jhajjar district on February 26.
