After an inspiring tenure in the field of education, A V Santosh Kumar, the headmaster of Udinur Central AUP School in Kasaragod, chose an unconventional route to mark his retirement. Instead of the usual farewell celebration, he transformed the occasion into a moment of meaningful service and contribution.
Shunning formalities, he dedicated the event to launching a series of thoughtful welfare measures. Among his noteworthy gestures was the gifting of a smart television to the school, intended to serve as the foundation for a new language laboratory—an initiative aimed at enhancing students’ communication skills.
Demonstrating his deep compassion, he extended financial support to two palliative care organisations, highlighting his enduring concern for community welfare. Going a step further, he personally visited homes of differently-abled students who were unable to attend school, offering encouragement and acknowledging their commitment to home-based learning.
Throughout his 38-year-long journey at Central School, Santosh Kumar has championed educational progress through various academic initiatives. He has played key roles in several state-level projects and has been recognised with over half a dozen accolades, including a prestigious state-level teacher’s award.
In addition to his teaching legacy, he has authored 10 books, reflecting his passion for knowledge-sharing and literary engagement. His farewell stands as a remarkable testament to selflessness, leaving behind a legacy that extends far beyond the classroom.
