The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education has suspended an examination centre superintendent and ordered the immediate relocation of an exam centre in Kangra district following allegations of mass copying during the ongoing board examinations.
The action was taken at PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Jawali, after complaints and video evidence reportedly showed serious irregularities inside the examination hall.
Video evidence reveals irregularities
According to officials, the board received multiple complaints along with video footage suggesting that answers were being verbally dictated to students during the examination.
Preliminary findings indicated that a teacher inside the hall was allegedly telling students the answers to multiple-choice questions.
Board Chairman Rajesh Sharma said the incident represented a clear violation of examination rules and undermined the credibility of the evaluation process.
Centre superintendent suspended
Following the allegations, the Director of School Education suspended Ravi Bhandari, the centre superintendent and a biology lecturer, with immediate effect.
The suspension order cited misuse of official position, failure to maintain integrity, and conduct unbecoming of a government servant.
Authorities have also initiated a departmental inquiry against the centre coordinator, centre superintendent and deputy superintendent.
Examination centre shifted
To ensure fairness and transparency in the ongoing exams, the board cancelled the Jawali examination centre and shifted all candidates to Government Senior Secondary School, Matlahar for their remaining papers.
The board has also directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Jawali to conduct a detailed investigation and submit a report.
Officials emphasised that such incidents harm the interests of students who prepare honestly for examinations.
Chairman Sharma reiterated that the board follows a zero-tolerance policy against unfair practices and warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found facilitating malpractice.
