A tragic incident has emerged from Hyderabad, where a 26-year-old software engineer from Bihar was found dead at her residence in the Miyapur area under the jurisdiction of Cyberabad Police.

The deceased, Ishita Yadav, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her apartment on Wednesday evening. Her husband, Neeraj Bhansal, reportedly alerted the police after discovering her.

Marriage followed by alleged harassment

According to police sources, Ishita and Neeraj had met through social media in 2020 and were in a relationship for nearly five years before marrying in Patna on February 20, 2026.

Following their marriage, the couple relocated to Hyderabad, where both were employed in the software sector. However, Ishita’s parents have alleged that tensions arose soon after, with claims that she was subjected to harassment over additional dowry demands.

Allegations of financial pressure

The family has further stated that the husband allegedly pressured Ishita to convince her family to invest in a start-up venture he had recently initiated.

These allegations form the basis of a complaint filed by her parents, prompting police to register a case and begin a detailed investigation.

Police action underway

Authorities have taken the husband into custody for questioning, and an FIR has been registered. The body has been sent to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem examination.

Police have stated that further investigation is ongoing to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.

Need for awareness and support

The incident has once again brought attention to issues of dowry harassment and mental health challenges faced by individuals in distress.

Authorities and mental health professionals continue to urge individuals to seek timely support and report harassment without delay.
