A PhD research scholar at Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar died after allegedly falling from a hostel building on the institute campus.

The deceased was identified as Tanikonda Nishant Kumar, a research scholar in the Department of Electrical Engineering. According to reports, the incident occurred inside the hostel premises, triggering panic among students and staff.

Campus authorities and fellow students immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The sudden death of the young scholar has deeply saddened the IIT Bhubaneswar community. Students and faculty members expressed grief over the incident and offered condolences to the bereaved family.

Police officials reached the campus soon after receiving information and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fall.
