In Attack On Congress, Sharad Pawar Camp, BJP’s Praise For Uddhav Thackeray

On Tuesday, BJP leader Chandrakant Patil commented that despite Uddhav Thackeray’s significant efforts during the Lok Sabha election campaign, it was the Congress and NCP (Sharad Pawar) that reaped the benefits more than his own party.

Speaking at an event, Mr. Patil, a senior Maharashtra minister, noted that Mr. Thackeray had been unwell but still campaigned vigorously. “Uddhav Thackeray’s health was not in good condition, yet he put in a lot of effort. I was concerned about his health. However, the results show that the NCP (SP) and Congress gained more from his efforts than his own party,” Mr. Patil said.

Mr. Patil pointed out that when Thackeray was allied with the BJP, his party had secured 18 Lok Sabha seats. However, after aligning with Congress and the NCP (SP), they only managed to win nine seats. “He needs to introspect,” Mr. Patil added.

Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) contested 21 out of 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state but only won nine. In contrast, the Congress contested 17 seats and won 13, with a rebel candidate in Sangli who later supported the party. The NCP (Sharad Pawar) contested 10 seats and won eight.

Mr. Patil further taunted Mr. Thackeray by saying, “Thackeray has earned the tag of winning due to the votes of minorities. An MNS leader aptly remarked that the color of Uddhav’s victory is not saffron but green.” provide news headline
