Prior to this event, Indian and French soldiers engaged in a similar friendly contest in Meghalaya as part of the joint military exercise named ‘SHAKTI 2024’. Amidst the camaraderie, troops from both nations came together for a spirited tug-of-war session in Umroi, Meghalaya, marking the 7th edition of the Indo-France joint military exercise. The overarching goal of the Shakti exercise was to bolster the combined military capabilities of the participating forces.

The seventh edition of this joint military exercise concluded at the Umroi Joint Training Node in Meghalaya. This biennial training initiative alternates between India and France, with the previous edition held in France in November 2021.
