Thai authorities have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of Saksham Jain, a 28-year-old Indian national who was in Thailand to attend a major international music festival. The incident has raised concerns over safety and health risks at large-scale entertainment events attended by thousands of young visitors from across the world.

Incident at festival parking area

According to Thai police and local media reports, Jain had attended the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), a globally popular electronic dance music festival. After spending some time at the event, he reportedly walked towards a nearby parking area, where witnesses noticed him climbing onto the back of a resident’s pickup truck and dancing in an unusual manner.

Local residents, alarmed by his behaviour, alerted the police. Before officers could arrive, Jain reportedly collapsed and lost consciousness.

Rushed to hospital, declared dead

Emergency responders immediately shifted Jain to Thalang Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. As the exact cause of death could not be determined, authorities ordered a detailed post-mortem examination.

Police confirmed that no external injuries were found on the body. The remains have been sent to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a full autopsy.

Investigation ongoing

The Bangkok Post reported that police are examining medical, toxicological, and circumstantial evidence to establish what led to the sudden collapse. Jain’s background details, apart from his nationality, are still being verified.

Indian authorities are expected to be informed once preliminary autopsy findings are available.
