When a San Francisco entrepreneur known online as @protosphinx boarded an IndiGo flight, he wasn’t expecting much. After all, the airline was recently ranked 103rd out of 109 in the 2024 AirHelp Score, earning the label of India’s worst-rated airline globally. But what followed was a pleasantly surprising journey that sparked fresh debate online.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), he praised:

  • Seamless boarding via an aerobridge
  • Minimal delay (just 7 minutes post scheduled takeoff)
  • Good legroom and professional crew with fluent English
  • A chicken junglee sandwich that earned a 7/10 rating

He summed up the flight by saying, “It is the best budget airline experience I could have ever imagined.”

His review contradicts IndiGo’s low global rank, sparking reactions online.
One user wrote, “IndiGo is better than many US/European domestic airlines. Some western ones feel like buses.”
Another quipped, “Never had a bad experience. I wonder how these rankings are even decided.”

Not everyone agreed on the sandwich. One post read: “I hate that sandwich with all my life. But yeah, IndiGo is usually efficient.”

The viral review highlights the gap between public perception and personal experience. IndiGo, despite its global rank, remains India’s dominant domestic airline—fast, widespread, and mostly on time.
