Srinagar: An IndiGo aircraft came into contact with a Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS) pole while parking at Srinagar Airport on Thursday morning. No injuries were reported among passengers or crew members.
Flight 6E 225, operating from Navi Mumbai to Srinagar, reportedly came into contact with the pole at around 9.02 am during the parking process, according to airport authorities.
Passengers and crew remain safe
All passengers and crew members on board were reported safe following the incident. Airport authorities said normal operations continued after the aircraft came into contact with the fixed guidance equipment.
Visuals from the airport showed the aircraft’s nose close to the bent VDGS pole, with ground staff gathered around the aircraft. The jet bridge was already connected to the aircraft.
A VDGS is used at airport parking bays to provide pilots with visual guidance while positioning an aircraft accurately.
Extent of damage yet to be known
IndiGo has not yet issued a detailed statement regarding the incident or disclosed the extent of any damage to the aircraft.
The exact circumstances that led to the aircraft coming into contact with the pole are also yet to be established. Further assessment by the airline and airport authorities is expected to determine whether the aircraft sustained any damage requiring inspection or maintenance.
It also remains unclear whether the incident will have any impact on the aircraft’s subsequent schedule.
Srinagar Airport authorities have not reported any disruption to other flight operations following the incident.
