Introducing himself calmly, he spoke of a distinguished passenger on board — Admiral V S Shekhawat, who had once been his commanding officer and later rose to become Chief of the Naval Staff.
Only moments later did Captain Ranveer disclose the detail that stunned passengers and viewers alike: the admiral was his father. Travelling with him was Vice Admiral I C Rao, Admiral Shekhawat’s course mate of nearly 70 years.
A full-circle journey from Dabolim
The moment carried added emotional weight as the flight departed from Dabolim Airport, where Captain Ranveer began his flying career in the Indian Navy nearly four decades ago. He reminded passengers that the very airfield they were departing from had once been commanded by his father.
