In a tragic incident on the outskirts of Hyderabad, a youth lost his life and another was critically injured while performing stunts on a motorbike for Instagram reels. The accident occurred on the national highway near Pedda Amberpet within the Hayat Nagar police station jurisdiction, part of the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate.
The two friends were engaged in dangerous stunts on a sports bike when the rider lost control. Both individuals fell from the bike, sustaining severe injuries. The accident was exacerbated by wet road conditions from recent rain, which likely caused the bike to slip.
The injured were rushed to a private hospital, but Shiva, who was riding as a pillion and was not wearing a helmet, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday. The incident highlights a growing trend among youths who perform risky stunts not just for thrills but for social media attention and likes.
Despite ongoing efforts by authorities to curb such dangerous behaviors, including crackdowns and public warnings, stunt riding remains prevalent. Many youngsters are frequently seen performing risky maneuvers on high-end motorcycles across busy roads and IT corridors in Hyderabad, often exacerbating road safety issues and causing significant noise pollution.
The continuous flaunting of risky stunts, particularly during night hours in areas like Hitec City and Gachibowli, underscores the persistent challenge faced by local police in ensuring road safety and mitigating the dangers posed by such reckless activities.
