New Delhi: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian extended warm greetings to India on its 80th Independence Day, highlighting the deep historical and cultural relationship between the two countries and expressing Tehran’s readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
In a message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pezeshkian described the longstanding ties between India and Iran as an important foundation for building stronger relations based on mutual interests, trust and respect.
Iran highlights historic relationship
Pezeshkian said the historical, cultural, civilisational and people-to-people connections between the two nations were a valuable asset for creating brighter prospects in bilateral relations.
He also said Iran was prepared to take more effective steps to expand cooperation with India and make greater use of the existing potential between the two countries.
The Iranian President conveyed his wishes for India’s continued progress, prosperity and happiness, while expressing hope that the longstanding friendship between the two nations would grow further.
World leaders greet India
Pezeshkian was among several international leaders who conveyed Independence Day greetings to India.
Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi, praising India’s progress in economic, social, scientific and technological fields.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, French President Emmanuel Macron and Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu also extended greetings and expressed support for stronger relations with India.
The messages came as India marked 80 years of independence, with the country continuing to strengthen diplomatic and strategic partnerships across the world.
