In a shocking incident from Pune, a 38-year-old IT engineer, Madhav Tiketi, allegedly murdered his 3.5-year-old son, driven by doubts about his wife’s fidelity. Jobless for two months, Madhav reportedly slit his child’s throat in a fit of rage and dumped the body in a secluded spot, police said on Friday.

The crime came to light after the boy’s mother, Swaroopa, lodged a missing person’s report at Chandannagar police station. CCTV footage showed Madhav with his son around 2:30 PM Thursday, but later seen alone shopping for clothes at 5:00 PM, raising red flags.

Police traced Madhav’s phone, locating him intoxicated at a lodge in Vadgaonsheri. Upon sobering up, he confessed to the heinous act and directed authorities to the body’s location.

DCP (Zone 4) Himmat Jadhav stated that Madhav’s suspicion over his wife’s character and doubts regarding the child’s paternity had spiraled into this brutal crime.

Swaroopa’s complaint led to a swift investigation. Officers apprehended Madhav, who revealed the motive during questioning. The child’s bloodied body was sent to Sassoon Hospital for post-mortem.

Originally hailing from Visakhapatnam, Madhav Tiketi was formally arrested under BNS Sections 103(1) and 238. Further legal proceedings are underway.
