Jaipur: A 27-year-old man, Govind Prajapat, was brutally killed in broad daylight on Saturday in Jaipur’s Jaisinghpura Khor, allegedly by relatives of his wife enraged by his inter-caste marriage.
The attack occurred around 10 AM near Pashu Hatwara Chowki, while Govind was heading to work. According to police, a group of assailants pulled him off his motorcycle and bludgeoned him with a heavy stone. Additional DCP (North) Bajrang Singh Shekhawat confirmed that the motive appears to be connected to Govind’s marriage to Payal Saini, a woman from Parsawali Dhani, which her family had strongly opposed.
The couple had tied the knot last year and had recently become parents to a two-month-old daughter. Govind ran a small tea and snacks stall near Jaleb Chowk and followed a consistent daily routine — something the attackers allegedly exploited.
Investigators believe the attack was carefully planned, with the suspects choosing a familiar stretch of road to launch the ambush. A blood-stained stone, likely used in the murder, was discovered at the scene, and forensic teams collected evidence, including the victim’s cash and passbook.
Following the incident, Govind’s mother, Rajni Prajapat, filed a formal complaint naming Ranjit, Omprakash, and Ajay—relatives of Payal—as suspects. She claimed they had previously issued threats and orchestrated the attack. Some of the accused are now in police custody for questioning.
Authorities have labelled the killing premeditated, and a full investigation is ongoing.
