New Delhi: The Congress party directed a query to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding his commitment to granting special category status to the states of Andhra Pradesh and Bihar.
Jairam Ramesh, the Congress general secretary, also took a dig at the prime minister, asserting that while there are repeated assertions about the formation of the Modi 3.0 government, the reality may be more accurately termed as ‘Modi 1/3 government’ this time around.
In a social media post, he asked, “On 30 April 2014, in the holy city of Tirupati, you promised to give special status to Andhra Pradesh. Will that promise be fulfilled now? Will you stop the privatization of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant now? Will you fulfill your 2014 election promise and the ten-year-old demand of your ally Nitish Kumar by giving special state status to Bihar? Do you promise to conduct caste census in the entire country like Bihar?”
