This visit marks the second by a senior Indian leader since the resolution last year of an incident involving eight former Indian Navy personnel detained in Qatar on charges of espionage, who were subsequently sentenced to death.

During his visit, Jaishankar will meet with Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. The discussions will cover various aspects of bilateral relations including political, trade, investment, energy, security, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people contacts.

Additionally, regional and international issues such as the Israel-Hamas conflict and the welfare of Indian expatriates in Qatar are expected to be addressed.

India and Qatar enjoy longstanding friendly relations, marked by frequent high-level visits, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi having visited Qatar in February to discuss bilateral matters with Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
