PM Modi: Rs 2L Relief for Doda Road Accident Victims

Jammu: The next of kin of those slain in the traffic accident in J&K’s Doda district will receive Rs 2 lakhs as ex gratia relief, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement on Wednesday.

“It is upsetting that a bus accident occurred in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. I send my sympathies to the families who have lost loved ones. I hope the wounded people get better as soon as possible. The next of kin of each deceased would receive an ex-gratia payment from PMNRF of Rs. 2 lakh. The injured would receive Rs 50,000,” the PMO wrote on X.

Amit Shah also conveyed his sorrow over the lives lost in the collision.

The Doda road accident resulted in 36 fatalities and 19 injuries.

According to officials, a passenger bus in J&K’s Doda district lost control in the Assar area, causing the vehicle to plunge into a deep gorge.

As of right now, 36 people have perished in this accident, and 19 more are critically hurt. The injured have been moved to a medical facility. Some of the injured, according to the doctors, have serious injuries. Following the incident, security personnel and civilians launched a relief and rescue effort, according to the officials.

The traffic department officials stated that reckless driving and excessive speeding were the primary causes of accidents in the hilly Doda and Rajouri districts, which are notorious for having poor roads that result in serious collisions.

Meanwhile, the locals blame the traffic department for lack of supervision on overloaded passenger buses and over speeding private vehicles.
