Jammu Police Constable Arrested In Drug Syndicate Investigation

In a major anti-drug operation, Jammu police arrested Constable Mohammad Mukhtiyar, who allegedly sold heroin on the premises of Government Medical College and Hospital. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted Mukhtiyar near the hospital mortuary and recovered heroin-like substances and Rs 9,000 in cash from him. Mukhtiyar, a member of the Armed Police 12th Battalion in Srinagar, has been suspended from service, and a case was filed at Bakshi Nagar Police Station.

SP City North, Brijesh Sharma, is overseeing the investigation to dismantle this suspected drug syndicate, believed to be involved in multiple overdose deaths among Jammu’s youth. Financial probes are underway to trace and seize assets acquired from drug sales.

In a related case on November 7, another constable, Parwaiz Khan, was arrested with his two wives, with heroin and over Rs 2.5 lakh in cash seized during a house raid.
