New Delhi: K C Tyagi, the Janata Dal (United) spokesperson known for his vocal critiques of central government policies, has resigned from his position, according to an announcement by the party on Sunday. The JD(U) stated that Tyagi’s resignation was due to “personal reasons,” and has appointed Rajiv Ranjan Prasad as the new national spokesperson.

Tyagi, who has been a prominent and outspoken figure in national media, often highlighted his party’s differences with its ally, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His frequent comments on various issues, including the Uniform Civil Code, the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, and the government’s stance on the Palestine issue, reportedly caused friction within the JD(U) and embarrassed the BJP.

Sources indicate that Tyagi’s remarks were perceived as detrimental to the BJP-JD(U) relationship, particularly given the high-profile presence of JD(U) leaders like Union Minister Lalan Singh and Parliamentary Party Leader Sanjay Jha in Delhi. The party appears to prefer that these senior leaders handle the alliance dynamics without Tyagi’s public interventions.

In response to ongoing reports of discord within the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the BJP has been making efforts to ensure better coordination and harmony among its allies. Tyagi’s resignation is seen as a strategic move to manage these internal tensions and streamline the alliance’s public messaging.
