Ranchi: Jharkhand’s Chief Minister to-be Hemant Soren on Friday requested people to give him books instead of bouquets.
The Jharkhan Mukti Morcha chief tweeted a photo of bouquets brought to him by fans and followers after his victory and said that he feels bad when he cannot take care of the flowers that are given to him by the people.
Stating that he prefers books over bouquets, the leader, in two tweets in Hindi said that books enlighten many and hence he would love to have people gift him books.
“It feels bad when I cannot take care of the flowers. Instead bring me books and when you gift me books, please do not forget to write your name. When these books are kept safely in a library, it will become source of knowledge and enlightenment forever,” Soren said.
Hemant Soren is all set to take oath as the CM of Jharkhan on Sunday and former President Pranab Mukherjee, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, P Chidambaram and Ahmed Patel are expected to take part in the swearing-in ceremony.
The guest list also includes many chief ministers such as West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Bhagel, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, MP CM Kamal Nath, along with former UP CM and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, former Andhra CM and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat.
