Madanapalle: A 29-year-old woman from Karnataka was allegedly murdered by her husband at a private lodge in Madanapalle in Andhra Pradesh’s Annamayya district following a domestic dispute, police said. The accused surrendered at a police station on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rubia Taj, a native of Mulbagal in Karnataka’s Kolar district. Her husband, Shake Naveed Basha, also known as Naveen Pasha, allegedly killed her following an argument over a suspected extramarital relationship.
The couple had been married for around 13 years and had four children. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
Couple Reportedly Had Frequent Domestic Disputes
According to preliminary information, Rubia Taj and Naveed had been living separately following repeated disputes at home. Suspicion surrounding an alleged extramarital relationship had reportedly triggered frequent arguments between them.
Relatives later intervened in an attempt to reconcile the couple and resolve their differences.
Against this background, Naveed reportedly went to Palamaner on Wednesday and took his wife along. The couple subsequently went shopping in Chittoor before travelling to Madanapalle late at night.
As it was late, they reportedly booked a room at a private lodge to spend the night.
Argument at Lodge Ends in Fatal Attack
A fresh argument allegedly broke out between the couple inside the lodge room over the same issue.
During the altercation, Naveed allegedly struck Rubia on the head with a beer bottle. He then reportedly used the broken glass to attack her and slit her throat.
Rubia sustained fatal injuries in the alleged assault. The incident came to light following the attack, prompting police to begin an investigation at the lodge.
The allegations regarding the circumstances and motive of the murder are part of the ongoing investigation and will need to be established through the legal process.
Husband Surrenders at Police Station
After the alleged murder, Naveed reportedly went to the Madanapalle One Town police station on Thursday morning and surrendered. According to the initial account, he admitted his involvement in the crime.
Police personnel visited the lodge and inspected the scene to gather evidence and establish the sequence of events. The victim’s body was shifted for a postmortem examination as part of the investigation.
